Youth Work

To be a youth worker is to be a friend to young people – a good friend who is a responsible role model and one who can help make a positive difference to young people’s lives.

You will be given the opportunity to prepare youth sessions,  and work with children and young people in a supervised setting. This certificate ” an Introduction to Youth Work at level 1″ will prepare you for an apprenticeship or for work as an assistant in a youth setting

Qualities that you will need for youth work:

  • Cheerful and good humoured
  • Reasonable
  • Kind
  • Great belief in the “goodness” of young people
  • Respect for their dignity
  • In order to work in a youth setting, you will need to be  enhanced  CRB checked

Is it for you? It’s a challenge, but to be able to make a positive difference to children and young people’s life is really a vocation!
